Native bee colonies are available all year round. No waiting period.
I bought my first hive of Tetragonula carbonaria from Russell and Janine Zabel in 2001. I now have about fifteen hives of T. carbonaria, as well as about five Tetragonula hockingsi hives (originating from one I recovered from a water meter box), and I am currently undertaking research in the microbes isolated from these bees. Russell and Janine are among the most experienced people in stingless beekeeping in Australia, and can compare and contrast keeping stingless bees to conventional apiary. I particularly like their hive design; the thick-walled cypress pine boxes are durable, weather-resistant, and make it easy to inspect and split hives.
Russell Zabel has supplied numerous hives and logs of Tetragonula carbonaria and Austroplebeia australis native bees to me for the past 6 years. For quality and value, I think Russell’s products are the best on the market. His level of service is also outstanding – always being very pleased to answer queries promptly and provide reliable delivery. I have also purchased native orchids and other plants from Russell and these have come well packed and healthy. I have no hesitation in recommend the Zabels as superb suppliers of native bee products.
Russell Zabel is one of Australia’s most experienced stingless bee keepers. He has been supplying native bee hives to bee enthusiasts for decades. Russell is very friendly and helpful, with a broad wealth of knowledge about stingless bee care.
In the last year we have been using Zabel’s Native Bee Honey in our products with very pleasing results.
Never have we tasted a honey with such delicious flavour and unique qualities.
Thank you Russell and Janine for all your wonderful work in making this available to the world.
